Paris Impact 2024

Since its launch in 2021, the "Impact 2024 International" call for projects has supported 45 projects implemented in 19 African countries (South Africa, Algeria, Benin, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Morocco, Uganda, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Zambia) with a total co-funding amount of 1.4 million euros, averaging 29,300 euros per project. These projects benefit 77,469 people, 41% of whom are girls and women. All projects are labeled "Impact 2024" in recognition of their contribution to the legacy of the Paris 2024 Games.

The selection committee for the call for projects met in June 2023 to designate the winning projects for the 4th and final edition of the call for projects. As a result, 13 projects implemented in 10 countries were selected, with a total envelope of 365,000 euros. This final session allowed for even greater diversification of sports practiced, including surfing, BMX, and circus arts. It also aimed to address issues previously less targeted, such as professional integration, the fight against rural exodus, and environmental preservation.

Ladies' Turn is one of the laureates funded following the 4th edition of the call for projects with its "Jigeen Foot" project.

In Wolof, Jigeen means Women. The "Jigeen Foot" project aims to develop women's football in Senegal, where the Ladies' Turn association has been working for over 10 years. It will be established in Yoff, Dakar, a village inhabited by the Lebous (fishermen).

The target of the project will be young girls in the village's public primary schools (ages 6-12). In the physical and sports activity programs established by the Ministry of National Education at the primary school level, girls are excluded from football activities, which are exclusively reserved for boys. We aim to allow girls to play on an equal footing with boys.

This program will promote the practice of women's football and contribute to the well-being of young girls, thus defending gender equality and access to leisure activities for all. The program will be coupled with an educational aspect, providing school materials for young girls following the program and fostering a positive dynamic of self-confidence through sports. Advocacy sessions will also enable young girls to become spokespersons for the project within the community and with local authorities and to develop their leadership, knowing their rights.
