Premier Skills
Premier Skills is a joint initiative between the Barclays Premier League and the British Council. This program uses the power of football to help young people develop essential life skills, coaching abilities, and English language proficiency.
By leveraging the global popularity of the Premier League and the extensive network of the British Council, Premier Skills aims to create brighter futures for young people around the world. The program focuses on integrating youth into their local communities, enhancing their employability, and boosting their self-esteem, even for the most vulnerable individuals.
In Senegal, the project is championed by Ladies Turn, a local non-profit organization dedicated to promoting women's football. Led by Seyni Ndir Seck, a former captain of the national team and the head of the women's football commission at the Senegalese Football Federation, this collaboration seeks to promote equal opportunities and support women's football. The initiative emphasizes empowering girls through football to enhance their leadership skills, manage social impact projects, and build self-confidence. It includes:
Coaching training workshops using Premier Skills' educational resources
Leadership and teamwork training workshops, along with guidance on establishing community projects
